Nominated for the 2015 Rolex US Sailor award following a series of ocean racing records, Ryan discovered sailing whilst studying at St Mary’s College of Maryland. For the past 10 years, he has been based in Brittany (France) to hone his skills in the more radical and innovative side of the sport, initially working as part of Roland Jourdain’s shore team and then as project manager and skipper in his own right. His career ambition is to open the eyes of the US public to the beauty of short-handed offshore sailing by setting up a competitive project either for the Vendée Globe 2020 or for a sailing records campaign aboard an ‘ultim’ multihull.
